Author/Illustrator Website Design Process

When it comes to creating a platform and setting up my social media, I feel it's been well overdue. In my spare time, I want to write so I am a little behind on getting my websites up. What is social media without a website? There seems to be a lot of places to connect and network and I want to allow my audience a place where they can learn about all the information I can make available. So, I'm setting out to design my site finally.

Initially, I am self-taught with Dreamweaver. I have basic knowledge of coding. With two months of studying Dreamweaver back in 2004, I managed to gain some skills and enough know how to begin using the software and found it useful to just create my layout in Photoshop and import to Dreamweaver and make further modifications there. So I am no expert coder. I'm right brained, too much coding makes my head spin. I just want to do the designing.

First, I make a sketch of the layout I desire as a foundation of what I want to create and I do this for each page. Next, I go into Photoshop and start the design process. I am able to design an entire personal website within a week, a simple personal/portfolio site.

It has been a while since I last design any websites so I may take more time when I work on my site. I can't wait to have it complete then it's just updating from there.

Book Review of The Night Creepers

The Night Creepers by James Tingle For Ages 9 - 12 I thought that this story was interesting. When several kids attempted to venture out after dark, purely out of boredom, they discover a place that really shouldn't even be there. I wasn't sure exactly where the story was going to head. In the end, I felt the story was left at a point where it leaves the ending to reader's imagination, as far as why their secret place had vanished completely. Interesting concept. I could see this story continuing on in a series to solve some kind of mystery. Will there be a book 2? Book Review - Oscar and Marla: Illustrated

Oscar and Marla: Illustrated by Carole St-Laurent For Ages 6 - 10 I read this story to my daughter and she really enjoyed it. I liked how it introduces the reader to "second chance" animals. Then particularly centers focus on one of the animals among those who may have needed a second chance the most. I love how the author included humor as well and the honesty within the story. I also liked the positivity from Marla, the friendship that is developed between the two main characters, and the way the story turned out in the end. A meaningful and enjoyable story to be read! Reactable

I was doing some music searching while working on my novel and came across a new music system called reactable . I'm completely intrigued by it because of it's interactivity. It is an electronic musical instrument where you can explore music in an engaging way. My first thought, seems almost like playing a video game except, there's so much more going on where you interact with various objects to create the different sounds. I can see this expanding on so many other levels like, for children playing music and especially children with special needs. Maybe some kind of educational interactive table could incorporate learning in such a hands on way that is also visual using 3D objects instead of being limited to a 2D screen.
